How the rights issue works and what SoftBank sold
A rights issue lets existing shareholders buy new shares at a fixed price in proportion to what they already hold. Ola Electric is offering up to about 37.03 crore partly paid-up equity shares at Rs 27 each, to raise about Rs 1,000 crore. Rs 16.20 per share is paid on application.
Holders received two rights shares for every 25 shares held on the October 13 record date. The right to buy those shares is called a rights entitlement, and it can be sold to other investors. Of the roughly 4.33 crore entitlements SVF II Ostrich held, about 1.12 crore, or about 25.9%, were sold, leaving about 3.21 crore.
